It's really funny to talk about Spring Cleaning in January, and it's even funnier to find out that such a strange thing is possible.
How's that? With a little help from a software producer called Smith Micro. Who are these guys, what do they do and how can they do the Spring Cleaning in Winter?
Spring Micro Software Inc. is a company founded more than 20 years ago and traded on NASDAQ under the symbol SMSI and - at this time - they are leading diversified developer and marketer of wireless communication, eBusiness and utility software products and services. Their current line of software products includes the well known StuffIt and Faxstf, but there are many other applications available from them. One of them is the one that has to do with the cleaning part that I was talking about, and its name is exactly Spring Cleaning.
Spring Cleaning is an all-in-one cleaning and privacy solution for Mac, and with it you can easily clean your Mac, boost performance, regain disk space and protect your privacy without risks. Smith Micro announced they will preview Spring Cleaning 9 at Macworld, and this version will include increased speed and performance, launch services rebuilding ability, periodic scripts runner, a permissions fixer and Spotligh index rebuild storage tank, as well as many other small enhancements and fixes.
The current version of the program is available for purchase at 49.99$, and requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later to run, QuickTime 5.0 or higher for the Preview Pane and iPhoto 5 for the Image Finder feature. Unfortunately, the program is only available for PowerPC Macs at this time, but I am sure things will change with the next version, so keep you eyes on Smith Micro's booth at Macworld!
