The WristRevolution TechZone is the place to be if you're interested in watches and apps

We can already tell that smartwatches will be a big trend during 2014, just like curved displays and 4K screens were in 2013, and tablets were in 2012. We didn't know just how important watches would be until now, though. CEA was gracious enough to provide perspective.

CEA, short for the Consumer Electronics Association, has announced a new TechZone at the 2014 International CES.

CES, or the Consumer Electronics Show, is a convention that happens every year in Las Vegas, Nevada, in January.

At the upcoming edition, CEA expects smartwatches to be a major presence. Even though there won't be too large a list of them.

Even if no one besides LG, Sony and Samsung actually reveals such things, there should be plenty of internet-connectivity and app-based programs shown off there.

Not that there is that big a chance of that happening. Between now and then, odds are high that other IT companies and makers of consumer electronics will throw together a design or two.

After all, even if only early prototypes and mockups are produced, it will be better than nothing. For these reasons, CEA has announced the WristRevolution TechZone.

“Smartwatches are creating new possibilities in the wearable technology market and increasing the ways consumers can connect with these pocket-sized devices,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president, events and conferences, CEA.

“This exciting trend propelled us to create the WristRevolution TechZone. The WristRevolution TechZone will unveil this next generation of tech wearables.”

The 2014 International CES will take place from January 7 to January 10 in the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center.

The WristRevolution TechZone will be located in South Hall 3 and will include products from Burg Limited, COOKOO, Dennco Brands, Kronoz LLC, MetaWatch, Neptune and Qualcomm Toq.

Each will represent a different level of merger between the concepts of health monitor, music player, alert/message indicator, etc.
