Smart HDMI Cables Tell You What Signal They’re Carrying

U.S.-based high-quality audio-video cable company Monster Cable has just announced its Smart HDMI cables, on its official website. These new cables are certified by the Imaging Science Foundation to meet the requirements for high-speed smart HDMI cables, and come with an additional feature.

The feature so much touted by Monster Cable is the fact that the cable's end connector comes with three little LED lights that will tell the user what kind of signal the cable is transmitting.

One LED indicates that the cable is carrying an SD signal, another is for HD and the last one will indicate if a 4K signal is passing through the cable.

It is clear that this feature, while handy and quite useful, is actually only needed when the user is working with complex setups that require tens of cables and the LEDs could help the specialist check that everything is fine.

The pricing starts at $60 and can reach a high $350 for the longer models capable of a higher bandwidth.

That’s a price ranging between €47 and €276, which we consider quite expensive.
