A small German startup, 6Wunderkinder, has just smashed Foursquare's record, 396 days to reach one million users. Through their Wunderlist app, the company managed this feat in only 275 days, even before its one year anniversary.

Comparing it to other notable web services, we see that Twitter reached the same number of users in about 852 days, while Evernote, one of Wunderlist's rivals made it in 446 days.

Deemed by about every tech blog out there as one of the best productivity and task management apps around, Wunderlist is available for the iPhone, iPad, Android devices, Windows desktops, Macs and as a web service via the wunderlist.com website.

Wunderlist does not only store simple to-do lists, but actually synchronizes them between devices, allowing complete portability in the cloud.

Since its launch in November 2010, Wunderlist has been downloaded 2.6 million times, managed over 30 million tasks in 3.7 million lists, performed over 350 million synchronizations and is now growing at about 3,600 users per day.

Its greatest success comes from its iPad and iPhone apps,     around 62% of its entire market, with the Mac and Windows versions coming close behind at 21% and 15%.

As for its user base, 57% of all users come from the US, with 16% from Germany and 13% from the UK.

Wunderlist has also been nominated to this year's .net Awards, in one of the most important categories “Best Web App of the Year.”

The app is actually a small teaser for the company's more advanced task management system named Wunderkit, which is still under development at 6Wunderkinder's Berlin offices.

And while the world waits for Wunderkit, the company will also be launching a Linux version pretty soon as well.
