New Trojan in the wild

I guess everyone wants a faster computer that would be able to start applications in no-time and provide a smooth performance. But, what if your computer is surprisingly slow and programs are started in more than one minute? Annoying I would say, but the feeling can be well increased as the time passes by. A new infection is out there in the wild and can harm your computer by reducing the amount of RAM assigned by your installed programs. 2Spyware.com gave a 70 out of 100 severity scale, which underlines the fact that RAM Eater is really dangerous for the vulnerable computers connected to the web.

"This annoying trojan was designed with one specific purpose of slowing the victim computer. RAM Eater specializes in blocking a huge part of the random access memory, which usually leads to serious decrease of performance. What is more, the hacker is able to decide how slow should the infected system be. It is always a good decision not to open any unknown and suspicious files you don't know in order to protect your computer from the RAM Eater", 2Spyware.com wrote in the advisory published today.

According to the security notification, RAM Eater attempts to hide its files from the user and stay in the background, without letting the user know that something strange is happening with the system.

In case you believe RAM Eater is installed on your computer, it's pretty easy to find out. All you need to do is start Task Manager and look for rameater.exe, the executable which is currently being used by the infection. To do so, you can right click on the Windows Taskbar and select Task Manager. In the Processes tab, look for the said executable. Select it and click End Task. Easy as taking candies from a baby!
