Sony decided to put its TV sets on a diet and now releases a totally new BRAVIA 3LCD micro-display line-up, featuring 3 cabinet models that are about 22 percent slimmer than previous Sony Grand WEGA projection TV models. The new models are designed to complement any modern interior, while still providing the unparalleled performance and picture quality that have made Sony's micro-display line-up the leader of the category since its inception four years ago.

The BRAVIA 3LCD line-up comprises a 1920 x 1080p (progressive scan) 50-inch KDF-50E3000 model, a 46-inch KDF-46E3000 model, and a 1280 x 720p 37-inch KDF-37H1000 TV. All these devices are compatible with Sony's BRAVIA Internet Video Link module that integrates the Technical Emmy award-winning Xross Media Bar (XMB) user interface for enhanced on-screen navigation.

The E-series models are specifically built for consumers who want a large TV display, but have limited room for such devices. Thus, the KDF-50E3000 measures only 12.6 inches deep and the KDF-46E3000 comes in at under 11.9 inches, offering improved flexibility. Sony made sure that the slimmer models still include all those exclusive Sony picture enhancing technologies, such as BRAVIA Engine EX with DRC-MF v1.0 and Advanced Iris which deliver superior contrast.

All three sets feature two HDMI inputs that support both 1080/60p and 24p frame rates. Signal processing is made at a direct multiple of 24p to avoid visual artifacts when viewing next generation HD formats. The included connectors also feature three component video inputs and a PC input via HDMI.

As a new standard, all 3LCD micro-display models are compatible with Sony's BRAVIA Theater Sync, which integrates the operation of the TV set with external components connected via an HDMI cable. This easy to use interface allows users to quickly switch among content sources with a single remote control click.

The KDF-50E3000 and KDF-46E3000 BRAVIA micro-displays will be available in July and Sony will announce the appropriate prices closer to the ship date. KDF-37H1000 is scheduled to ship in May for about $1,300.
