SliTaz GNU/Linux, a free operating system working completely in memory from removeable media such as a CD-ROM or USB key, that aims to be light and fully installable on a hard drive, is now at version 4.0 RC1.

SliTaz 4.0 RC1 should be able to boot in 10-12 seconds, depending on the user's hardware. With this new 4in1 ISO feature, anyone can install a full SliTaz desktop, with only 48MB of system RAM.

The 4in1 ISO function is also able to auto detect the memory and boot SliTaz in text mode, in a minimal X11 environment, or a full desktop.

SliTaz 4.0 will feature more than 3000 of tested packages in its repositories. The purpose of the RC series is to allow developers to track any bugs that might appear.

Download SliTaz 4.0 RC1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
