The culture of the company will affect the coming shooter

Video game developer Sledgehammer Games says that the upcoming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be different from the entire franchise it is part of because the culture of the studio is very different from that of the other teams that have previously worked on it.

Since the game was announced, both the leaders of the development team working on it and publisher Activision have suggested that fans of the first-person shooter series will get a set of innovations that will breathe new life into the experience.

Michael Condrey, one of the co-founders of Sledgehammer Games, tells Game Informer that, “Activision’s independent studio model was, ‘Build the team the way you want to build it. Use the practices that allow you to build great software’. It was such a great match, and I think now you’re seeing the fruits of that labor. We’re different than any other Call of Duty studio in terms of how we operate and the culture of our space.”

Sledgehammer Games is co-led by Glen Schofield, who has previous experience working on the Dead Space series for publisher Electronic Arts as part of the Visceral Games team.

The new studio incorporates some of the members of his old team and they believe that the opportunity to work on Call of Duty is a special thing.

Developer Don Veca states, “The thing about Glen and Condrey is that you know they’re not going to fail. That’s the way that I’ve felt when I worked with them on previous games. I saw that in those guys. These guys will take us to the finish line. I have total 100% trust in them.”

Sledgehammer Games now has equal standing with Infinity Ward and Treyarch as the entire Call of Duty series moves to a three-year-long development schedule that is set to improve the overall quality of the launched titles.

Advanced Warfare will take place in the near future just as a powerful Private Military Company decides to attack all national forces in the world at the same time.

The trailer, which featured an appearance from Ken Spacey, showed a lot of advanced technology that gamers would be able to use, including exoskeletons and hover vehicles.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be out on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft, current-gen consoles and the PC on November 4 all over the world.
