The beta test of Skyrim’s upcoming Dawnguard expansion is underway and some testers have already started sharing a wide array of details about the new add-on, including things about its story, the new perk trees that are added to the game, as well as some of the new options you have after installing the DLC.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a massive game and Bethesda wants to further enrich the experience with the game’s first full-fledged expansion called Dawnguard.

We have already seen a video with the DLC earlier this month, which showed off some impressive footage.

Now, the first actual details have started appearing on the web, via the OPM.

According to the article, Dawnguard centers on an ancient group of vampires led by someone called Harkon, who wants to use the power of an Elder Scroll to blot out the sun.

Players can opt to join his side and become an impressive flying vampire lord who can transform into a cloud of bats and use a special power named Vampiric Grip, which suspends a victim in mid-air while draining their health.

Those who don’t like vampires can join the Dawnguard, a group of vampire hunters that want to stop Harkon’s plans.

Doing so will net you a new weapon, in the form of the crossbow, which can stagger targets besides killing them. The only drawback, however, is that they take a bit longer to reload than regular bows.

Other new things include the ability to hire an armored troll as a follower, and a new Dragon Shout called Soul Tear, which lets you steal a soul and raise the victim as an undead companion.

Last but not least, there are two new perk trees for vampires and werewolves that offer all sorts of interesting powers and abilities, so check them out below.
