PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners are getting ready to see the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on their respective platforms, but Bethesda, the game's developer and publisher, might also deploy the massive RPG onto the Nintendo Wii U when it is eventually released.

Skyrim is definitely one of the most anticipated games of the year, especially for role-playing game fans, who waited for a new game in the series for five years, since The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was launched.

As you can imagine, Bethesda is looking forward to release the new game onto a variety of platforms, but the current PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions might see the arrival of a new edition, designed specifically for the Nintendo Wii U, the successor to the current Wii which is scheduled to appear in early 2012.

According to Bethesda's Pete Hines, who talked with the Official Nintendo Magazine UK, the arrival of Skyrim on the Wii U is quite possible.

"We'll look at any platform that will support that games we're trying to make, but that's the key thing - the console has to support the game as it is designed," Hines said, echoing previous comments made by Bethesda in regards to the Wii U, which said that if the console is going to be powerful enough, its games will appear for it.

Hines went on to say that making a game and bringing it to a single platform is a very tough endeavor, so the Wii U needs to warrant the investment.

"The more changes we have to make to a game the less and less palatable it becomes because making a game is an enormous process. Just doing 360, PS3 and PC - I don't think people understand the amount of work that goes into that. All of the localization you have to do... all of the testing you have to do... on every platform in every language... It's a pretty huge undertaking. So you aren't just supporting the Wii U; You're supporting it in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish," he added.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11 around the world.
