PlayStation 3 owners were thrilled to hear that the second update for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released a couple of day ago, as it finally looked like their lag and freeze issues would be solved. Sadly, from what we’re hearing on the web, things aren’t completely fixed.

Patch 1.2 for Skyrim was eagerly awaited by millions of the game’s owners, as even though it’s a great experience, there are still plenty of glitches and problems. Chief among these issues were the lag and freezes experienced by PlayStation 3 owners of Skyrim, as the game grinded to a halt once the save game files reached a certain size.

The new patch, which seemingly eliminated this problem at first, doesn’t completely fix this, as already quite a lot of Skyrim PS3 owners are complaining that, once they play for more than 2-3 hours, the lag is experienced once again.

So, owners of Skyrim on the PlayStation 3, did the new patch eliminate this issue or has Bethesda just tried to fix it temporarily before it can really address the problem? Share your experiences below.

This patch seems useless to me.It fixes only some rare issues. It does not fix perfomance issues or quest bugs. What are you doing Bethesda?

The patch made it even worse. To be honest, even my texture quality has deteriorated.

It seems that the patch has partially fixed the lag problem, but now there is new issues, like the fact that characters have lost totally their resistance to magic, fire, poison, etc.
I hope Bethesda releases a new patch soon to fix this problems.

What I've read on the internet throughout the whole ordeal really seems to make light of the real extent of the damage. My save file size is about 9150kb, my game was constantly lagging and would be literally unplayable during combat. I've downloaded the latest patch and could not even tell the difference. Even now I'm back online trying to get a handle on things because the game will lag to the point of freezing. And I feel ripped off for paying for a full price game.

The game is still the same laggy game, just now it looks terrible. There was a definate fiddling with the textures and the overall polish of the game. It's shocking if you compare it to a pc version of skyrim now. It's like they turned down the visuals from full to medium, expected no one to notice, and the problems to go away. :(

Bethesda is becoming intolerable! Their patch didn't fix a * thing. Infact, it made the game 10 x worse! I still suffer from lags and freezes, but mine are not limited to 3 hours of play, I will freeze in 30 minutes. Secondly shields and resistances are completely broken. Not only for the enemies weaknesses/strengths but using a resist potion on your hero no longer takes effect. And now I can't even obtain dragon souls! I started my game the other day with 4 souls, since starting I killed 5 dragons and ended the game still with only 4 souls (not having spent any mind you). And even still, the part that aggravates me the most is that Bethesda originally said that there was no possible way there could be anything wrong with Skyrim. Way to become more hated than EA.

Lag and freezes still an issue for me. Very unfortunate because this could have been a great game.

To be honset its made no difference at all and the freezing and lag problems spoil what is a great game. I am no techi but this seems a real basic problem to mess up on. Did this not show up during testing? a little hard to beleive.

Worse than before. Before the patch I didn't start lagging until about 6+ hours of straight game play. Now I can't even get to that point because the game keeps freezing. 3 times in one night. Only happened once before this new patch...

Seemed good, even turned on a bunch of auto-save features and played for a bit without any problems. Then boom, lag lag lag, freeze. Seems to be more frequent when viewing inventories and talking to NPCs. There is an occasional lag spike during game play. PS3 does not appear to be overheating. I will also go in and clear some auto-saves which seem to address the issue temporarily.

Things worked rather well for me pre-patch. Tonight, playing for about 3 hours, the game froze at least half a dozen times on me. Really annoying.

The patch gave me SOME satisfaction however, after playing for a couple hours and progressing in level and the amount of Used MB the game slowly crept back to being laggy.... my game is fine apart from the lag and the invisible manneqins in proudspire mannor. Those are the only two problems I'm suffering from atm

If this frame rate/ lag issue is not fixed I will NEVER again buy a Bethesda product on launch day, and quite honestly may give up on them completely. This is the second game Bethesda game I have played that had game crippling bugs in it. I encountered a bug in Fallout three where everytime I tried to go through a door, the game would crash. Now, in Skyrim, my frame rate goes down the toilet everytime I enter a city or engage in combat with more than one enemy. CMON BETHESDA, FIX IT NOW!!

My game keeps freezing when the game is loading and the patch didn't fix the issue, also when I wait on Skyrim it freezes once in a while.

Now that fans of the elder scrolls series have a major game on PS3 they are experiencing the same issues that those of us who are fans of Fallout have experienced. Fallout 3 is STILL lag and freeze ridden, as is new vegas. My question is will Bethesda stay true to their current actions and leave Skyrim broken, like fallout 3 and new vegas are or will they decide to finally step up and fix the problems in their creation?

Yup, freezin' bad. I only want this issue fixed, I don't care if the buildings on the game start falling down or the land starts to look like what happened on Azeroth. I want to play mah game with no freezes!!11! >.
