Bethesda has seemingly released a new patch for the PlayStation 3 edition of Skyrim, which fixes the lag and freeze issues that plagued the platform since the title’s release.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim impressed legions of gamers across all platforms but, like with most Bethesda titles, issues popped up, from hilarious glitches on the PC, to low resolution textures on the Xbox 360 or a save game freeze issue on the PlayStation 3.

Now, it seems that the first actual patch for Skyrim has appeared, only for the PlayStation 3, at least, as many users from Bethesda’s forums are reporting that they were able to download the update, which occupies 92MB, and, after applying it, the freezes and lag stopped almost completely.

As some of you might remember, we reported on a serious glitch that, once their save game files reached a certain size, caused constant lag and freezes for PS3 owners .

There’s no official word about this patch, so expect a statement from Bethesda soon.
