The Japanese magazine Famitsu, long seen as the barometer for gaming in the country, has awarded a perfect 40 out 40 score to the Bethesda developed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The open world first person action adventure game is the first one to be developed in the West and get the score and the 17th one in the 25 year plus history of Famitsu to get it.

Japan is notorious for the amount of love and respect it gives to home developed titles and for a certain tendency to treasure them over Western blockbusters like Modern Warfare 3 or Halo.

Skyrim has impressed the reviewers at Famitsu with its open world nature, the very complex world it creates and the improvement to its combat mechanics.

The developers at Bethesda have just released the change log for the PS3 1.2 patch for the game, with versions for the Xbox 360 and the PC also planned.
