Ready to do everything and anything to go up a level

I am a Jack of all possible trades when it comes to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and, at times, it seems that I am facing one of the original problems of modernity: I have too many options and this makes actual choice impossible.

I already detailed in previous Gamer Diaries how I wondered the world for quite a long time before getting stuck into the main story of Skyrim and in the course of about 40 hours I went from bring a board and steel fighter to a sort of battlemage and then to a sneaking archer.

Now, as I tackle the main quests, I am finding that I often become paralyzed when facing one of the interesting set pieces that The Elder Scrolls V throws at me.

I could conjure up a familiar, sneak in and take out one enemy only to raise him as undead and then get into the middle of the fight using flames, my inferno shout and my upgraded and enchanted war axe taken from the long dead dwarves.

I could also take a few shots from afar, using my best arrows, while my companion wades in, then support him with some spells and shouts before getting into melee and taking out some enemies on my own.

A lot depends on the exact situation I am facing but regardless of that I often get stuck with my Magic menu or my Favorite menu open, scrolling through my options and thinking that I have tried them all to some extent and don't feel that any is especially appealing.

Part of this is, of course, that I have been playing so much Skyrim over such a short period of time but in part it's also a failing of the game because in its commendable quest for player freedom it has sometimes forgotten to offer a little more structure for its gameplay.
