The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been awaited by a huge amount of role playing game fans from all over the world, as Bethesda promised to deliver a vast and complex experience that will please not just longtime fans of the series, but also those who are completely new to the saga.

While the general feel is that the studio pretty much succeeded, Skyrim's beginning, when you start it out on a PC is a bit awkward, largely because of the clunky character creator system.

Pretty much all role playing games allow players to create their own customized character, choosing from various attributes like gender, skin tone, various body characteristics and all sorts of other options through a special interface.

While Skyrim is no exception, the user interface for the character creator is very difficult to use on the PC. Instead of implementing full support for a mouse and keyboard to change up your character's traits, you're pretty much forced use just the keyboard, awkwardly navigating and fine tuning your own creation because the mouse feels extremely imprecise.

That might not be so bad, but because the character creation process is so complex, allowing you to choose all sorts of traits and tweak your avatar's looks, it just becomes more apparent as you get closer to the end. Still, it's worth pointing out that, besides the clunky PC interface, the system is very robust, allowing for meticulous changes to all sorts of aspects.

Each of the ten races has different types of advantages, from the health regeneration of the reptile Argonians to the berserk rage of the Orks, or, in the case of my Redguard choice, the natural resistance to poison and the Adrenaline Charge power that will prove to be most useful as I'm going to a direct warrior role in this playthrough of Skyrim.

After choosing your race, you can either pick a pre-built preset and get it over with, or start fine-tuning character, and subjecting yourself to the clunky interface.

Thankfully, after that pretty awkward introduction, you're subjected to a great action sequence that will certainly impress lots of players.
