The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is set to receive bigger downloadable expansions, at least according to the game's director, Todd Howard, who talked about supporting the massive role-playing game after its release later this year.

Skyrim is going to be one of the biggest RPGs of the year, as Bethesda, its developer, wants to make sure that the adventures in the newest installment of its mythical Elder Scrolls series will delight and entertain players for dozens of hours.

The quests and experiences aren't limited just to what's on the game disc, as Bethesda's Todd Howard, Skyrim's director, once again confirmed that the downloadable expansions for the game will add many new adventures in bigger packages, in order to really feel like new things have been added to the game, not just a few hours of extended quests.

"For us, I'd like to do bigger things," Howard told PSM3 via CVG. "Some of the bigger ones we did for Fallout 3 I thought were better. I like the Rockstar model, too, where it feels more like an expansion pack. I don't know what we're going to do yet, but we want to do something that costs a bit more but is going to be more of a complete package. Quality over quantity... we're thinking bigger than with Fallout 3."

Fallout 3 received quite a lot of DLC, some quite epic in scale, like Broken Steel or The Pitt, while others added just a few hours of gameplay, like Mothership Zeta.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion received an epic expansion in the form of the Shivering Isles add-on, which brought almost 30 hours of new content for the role-playing game, currently back on sale in the form of an Anniversary edition.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is set to appear on November 11, this year, for a variety of platforms like the PC, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.
