According to
MobileMag Niklas Zennstrom, co-founder and CEO of Skype Technologies has recently announced that a cell phone version of the VoIP application is being developed and it will be available starting from this year.
Skype allows communication through the VoIP technology and it can be run on Mac OSx, Windows
and Pocket PC, and the company plans to launch versions for Embedded Linux, Symbian and Windows Mobile.
Skype leaders announced their intention of negotiating with important mobile terminal producers to include VoIP solution on these systems. GPRS and WiFI compatible phones are the favorites for the integration of the VoIP solution.
Skype will have difficulties related to regulations that will be violated by the application once the solution is implemented to cell phones.
The telecommunication companies make a lot of money from long-distance calls, and their contribution to the state budget is also significant. These companies will be strongly affected when Skype will ease the access to long distance calls.
Although for now, convincing the producers to include Skype in their products seems difficult, once the telephony operators experience the effects of the communication technology proposed by Skype, the financial interests will dominate the entire price and special offer policy.
