The app is now available for download in China for the first time

Microsoft's Skype has just announced it has updated the Windows Phone application with lots of improvements meant to enhance user overall experience and the software's performance.

First and foremost, developers announced it has made important improvements to the time it takes for the application and user's recent conversations to load when Skype is started from the tile.

Other major improvements were introduced at users' request, such as copy and paste and high contrast mode. With the latest version of Skype users will be able to copy and paste instant messaging conversations.

You only need press and hold an IM message, select copy from the contextual menu and paste it where you need it.

In order to improve accessibility, Skype confirmed it has added a high contrast mode to the application, which is enabled when Windows Phone is set to high contrast.

Last but not least, lots of general fixes and improvements have been included in the update as well, but no additional details have been provided on the nature of these enhancements.

In other news Skype announced its Windows Phone application is now available for download in China: “we are also excited to announce Skype for Windows Phone is now available in China following our strategic partnership in the region with Guangming Founder.”

You can now download Skype for Windows Phone 2.13 for free via Windows Phone Store. Keep in mind the application is only compatible with devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up.

It is also worth mentioning that developers recommend that for the best quality experience, Skype for Windows Phone would be installed on devices that pack a minimum of 512MB RAM of memory.

In order to avoid operator data charges, make sure you use an unlimited data plan or WiFi connection for the best Skype experience.
