Microsoft has just announced that Skype for Windows 8 would display advertisements provided by Emirates, as part of an agreement between the two companies.

The ads will be displayed basically everywhere throughout the application, including in the main screen, but also on the messenger and audio or video call pages.

“The launch of Windows 8 ads-in-apps poses an exciting opportunity for creatives and brands alike, as the fully integrated user interface creates one ecosystem for brands to reach engaged consumers, across screens,” Mike Buckley, head of agency sales at Microsoft Advertising, said according to The Drum.

As for the Windows 8 Skype client, Microsoft rarely rolls out any updates for the application, as the company apparently prefers to focus on the desktop version of the program. The good news is that video messaging will be soon released for Windows platforms too, including the new Windows 8.
