The folks over at Skype have just released a major update for their Android application, which brings new important features and lots of improvements.

First of all, the latest update brings a new feature commonly known as Picture-in-Picture, which allows users to see their video call even when they switch to other applications.

A new functionality tweak has been added as well, which provides users with the option to pinch their contact list to zoom out to an alphabet when their contacts list is too large.

Also, developers confirmed general fixes and performance improvements for all users have been included in the update, along with some video messaging compatibility fixes.

You can now download Skype for Android 4.5 for free via Softpedia. Keep in mind the application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and later.
