The Wi-Fi-only version of Skype for iOS plaforms has just gotten a leg up adding support for the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, compatibility with additional Wi-Fi providers, and more.

Skype WiFi 1.2 is now a universal app, which means you can download the same binary for both your iPhone and your iPad.

The updated version brings support for additional WiFi network providers, and a few bug fixes too. Lastly, the app has been tested against iOS 6 and it’s developers say it works like a charm.

Unfortunately, the same code-savvy bunch behind the app didn’t find the time to stretch its interface to accommodate the elongated display of the iPhone 5. But Skype WiFi does support all versions of the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad that can run  iOS 4.3 or later.
