
McAfee Inc., an intrusion prevention and security risk management company, has revealed in a press release that its has inked a marriage with Internet communication enterprise Skype and that, consequently,
its security solutions McAfee Internet Security Suite 2006, McAfee VirusScan 2006 and McAfee Personal Firewall(TM) 2006 products have received the Skype Certification.
This translates in a parameter assessment veto as Skype has deemed McAfee's security products as worthy of its security, quality and usability standards. While Skype's singular encryption technology has kept its Internet calls and chat services private and safe, McAfee will only add protection securing file transfer functions by scanning al incoming and outgoing information sharing. Constructed on Public Key Infrastructure and integrating 256-bit AES, SHA-1 and RSA algorithms Skype delivers end-to-end encryption for both its VoIP and IM solutions.

"Skype is already very secure, and McAfee's products are complementary, securing the rest of the PC environment."
