Skype is one service that is not available on Research In Motion’s BlackBerry devices at the moment, but which might arrive in the next-gen BlackBerry 10 platform release.

Skype icons were recently discovered in the latest BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha OS, which could indicate that a mobile client is expected on this platform at some point in the future, or could mean nothing at all.

Previous rumors suggested that Microsoft would oppose to the idea of launching such an application on the upcoming BlackBerry 10 operating system, yet nothing has been officially confirmed for the time being.

One thing that is certain, however, is that the lack of Skype on the new OS release would hurt Microsoft as much, something that might determine it to reconsider its position towards RIM’s platform.
