On Monday, Skype representatives announced that their senior management team now included two additional experimented members. Starting with next month, Neal Goldman will become the new Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer and this position will require him to oversee all legal and regulatory issues affecting Skype. The second staff addition is Doug Bewsher, who will be the Chief Marketing Officer in charge with global brand and marketing, but also with managing local go-to-market activities. Both of them will be located in Luxembourg, at the company's headquarters, and will need to report directly to CEO Josh Silverman.

The Skype CEO has declared that the two new technology leaders will help the company continue its increased integration with users' lives, which subsequently implies various types of legal issues. “Neal’s unique mix of leadership of company legal oversight, IP, and internal management functions is a solid addition to Skype’s capabilities. As our business faces new opportunities and challenges, grows externally and internally, Neal’s deep global legal and governance experience will serve Skype well,” Silverman said.

The previous position held by Neal Goldman was that of Executive Vice President, Chief Legal and Administrative Officer for 3Com, where he managed the company's intellectual property program and the legal department. Since he started his career, Goldman has also been employed by Data General Corporation, Polaroid Corporation and Lotus Development Corporation, Nets Inc.

Regarding the new Chief Marketing Officer, Silverman stated, “Doug is joining the Skype team as we continue to expose our 560 million registered users to an even richer Skype experience and accelerate the introduction of Skype to millions of people in innovative ways. Doug will shepherd Skype’s viral technology marketing, advertising and digital strategy; he will make an immediate and important impact.”

Bewsher was previously working on the same position for mig33, a successful “mobile first” community, and he managed to take the number of registered users to 40 million, while also increasing revenues up to five times by leading growth and monetization strategies. Some of the other companies he worked for were Publicis Modem, Vodafone and McKinsey’s North American CRM practice.
