Skype 6.1 is no longer a mystery for Mac users as the developers have finally been able to produce a set of release notes documenting the few changes for OS X clients in particular.

The new Skype has a ton of goodies for Windows users, but also a handful of additions for the Mac. For instance, users can now dial numbers from Safari.

“You can call a phone number or send an SMS to mobile from numbers listed on sites in Safari browser,” the team at Skype explains.

The developers have also implemented the ability to add the number to your Skype contact list.

The user profile view has been improved. A user’s account page is now easily accessible via the profile view, making it easier to navigate and update account details and profiles.

Skype 6.1 also fixes some bugs. One noteworthy fix relates to the Growl notification system: “In Preferences, Growl is not selectable and Skype reverts back to built-in notification,” reads the changelog.
