Skype has just released a new version of its VoIP application for Windows platforms, bringing a number of stability and performance improvements.

Skype 6.1.0.129 continues to offer support for most Windows versions currently on the market, including the “desktop” side of Windows 8, even though Microsoft has released a dedicated version of this app aimed at this new operating system.

As far as we can see right now, there are no updates available for the Windows 8 build of Skype, but a new version is very likely to be released anytime soon.

In the meantime, the Skype team is also working to fix a bug that affects the WLM – Skype merger, as plenty of users have complained that they had lost their contacts during the migration to the VoIP platform.
