Skype 4.6 is out for iPhone and iPad with “a new calling experience,” according to the development team behind the world’s most popular video chatting client.

The team at Skype has implemented a “new, beautiful calling experience” in the latest version of the video calling application for iOS devices, in addition to some other aesthetic improvements, such as the one-to-one chats now appearing in the correct order.

There’s also a new option to select your message as “read” with just a few taps. Some “general fixes and improvements” have been included as well.

Skype for iPad 4.6 is compatible with iPad, iPad 2, iPad mini and the latest iPads with Retina Display.

The version targeted at 3.5 / 4-inch screens supports iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 5, and 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch. iOS 5.0 is required. The Skype team recommends that everyone upgrades to the new versions as soon as possible.
