A new flavor of the Skype application is now available for download through the official channels, namely version 3.1.0.6458, which was meant to provide owners of Android tablets with a new feature, which is portrait calling.

Furthermore, the new flavor of the mobile client arrives on devices with more localization features to Portuguese, Norwegian and English (UK), as well as with various other improvements and bug fixes.

Some of these resolved issues include the possibility to answer incoming calls with the locked screen on Android 4.1, proximity sensor fixes on Android 4.2, and proper alignment of the call screen on Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Additionally, the new Skype 3.1 for Android should resolve random crashes when the app is sent to background on Android 4.1 and Android 4.2.
