Today, Skype announced a new version of its Symbian application, one that offers support for the Nokia 701 and 603 smartphones.

Basically, the new 2.1 flavor of Skype for Symbian brings support for devices that are based on the Symbian Belle platform.

The release notes for Skype 2.1.0.23 for Symbian also show that there are a series of issues that the application landed on devices with, such as the fact that changing the Skype ringtone multiple times might crash Skype.

Nokia 603 and 701 might see the Skype user interface cropped from corner, and could see Skype crashing when multiple voice messages are deleted in a row.

The new flavor of Skype for Symbian is available for download from Softpedia as well, via this link. Users who give the new application a try should consider providing feedback on their experience with it.
