Once a coveted iOS app, Skyfire Web Browser is now getting tons of hate

Users of the Skyfire Web Browser for iPhone and iPad are complaining about the latest update dished out by the developers which aimed to deliver “iOS 7 related bug fixes” and other improvements.

Last updated on October 25, 2013 (soon after Apple released iOS 7 to the masses), Skyfire Web Browser for iPhone (version 5.1.2) and iPad (version 5.2.2) has become unusable for many customers who used to rely on the app to get their sports video, Flash games and other cool stuff.

A high-profile developer, Skyfire Labs should have already deployed a fix. The bad ratings keep trickling in, and so are the negative reviews. Here’s one of them.

“I don’t know if they update this app to improve [it] or make it worse because I could watch live sports here before. Now with these new updates I can’t watch nothing live.”

Another puts it more bluntly: “Can’t watch anything now. Doesn’t do anything Safari can’t.”

Yet the app’s purpose was to fill the gap left by Safari’s inability to play Flash video.

One customer who uses Skyfire on an iPad seems to indicate that the Skyfire cloud is no longer able to decode flash video on popular sites.

“I’ve been using skyfire for 2 years and I can tell you just as everyone else said... It was great when I first started using it, now... I can barely get videos to work. I spend more time trying to find a video [...] that work[s] with it rather than actually watching the videos. The previous versions were much better and I regret ever updating it.”

Needless to point out, the Skyfire App Store pages are chock-full of such negative reviews, making it imperative for Skyfire Labs to get back to the drawing board.
