Maker of the award-winning web-browser for mobile devices Skyfire announced the launch of Skyfire 2.0 for Android, a solution meant to make the mobile Internet experience faster than before. According to the company, the new solution comes with support for Flash technology, while including media recommendations and social features.

Skyfire is one of the most popular mobile browsers in the world, as it is being used in over 160 countries, and it ranks among the top 10 applications available for download in the Nokia Ovi Store and in the Windows Marketplace for Mobile. The new Skyfire 2.0 for Android builds on the same features as the Skyfire’s 1.0 browser, such as desktop-internet page displays, server-side rendering of rich-media, or optimized delivery of content.

However, the new solution is meant to take the mobile browsing to a new level with the addition of the SkyBar, which is focused on the enjoying and discovering relevant mobile media. When activating SkyBar, users will be able to access any broken embedded video, will have the possibility to share content to their social networks, or to access related content.

Here's what SkyBar comes with: - Video –The “Video” icon repairs any broken Flash and rich-media video content embedded within a webpage. Goodbye, question marks and blue Legos. - Related Content – The “Explore” icon brings the most relevant content on the Internet to a user’s fingertips based on what they are viewing at the time, without the need for arduous time spent typing in often unreliable mobile searches. The related button pulls video, buzz, news, images and other sites from the web based on what is on the current page. - Sharing – The “Share” icon lets users update their social network profiles like Facebook and Twitter with a single click.

Skyfire 2.0 is based on cloud computing technology for the rendering of Flash video and websites, just as the Skyfire on Windows Mobile and Symbian devices does. Users can thus enjoy fast browsing, along with smooth Flash video, improved battery life, together with data compression, which results in 70 percent less data being downloaded on a 3G network.

“Skyfire 2.0 was built for the social media web world. People are now starting their web experience by scanning their Facebook and Twitter news feeds,” explains Jeff Glueck, CEO of Skyfire. “Our new browser ensures that many of the embedded links, such as Flash video in those feeds actually work on a mobile browser.” Skyfire 2.0 for Android is available for users in US, UK and Canada, and can be downloaded for free.
