Google's Demo Slam project is moving along nicely and there are some rather interesting entries already. Already, some are taking it to extremes such as a bunch of people from Japan skydiving to showcase Google Earth. Technically, skydiving doesn't exactly describe what they're doing, but the whole setup is pretty impressive.

This is probably the safest form of skydiving there is and, from the looks of it, it's rather fun. The two 'skydivers' are strung from the ceiling with harnesses while Google Earth is projected onto the floor.

Starting from outer space, the free fall takes the two adventurers to Hawaii where they land safely.

The video has been submitted to Google's Demo Slam, a new undertaking which aims to make tech demos fun. Google asks technology lovers from around the world to make the craziest or the most interesting videos showcasing a Google technology.

Each week, the most popular video as voted by the viewers is titled "champ." The top videos on the site have more than 250,000 views so it's pretty safe to assume that it's been quite a success.

And the best part of it is, for Google, that all the videos center around one of its products and it doesn't have to pay anything for it.

Granted, the videos sway more towards the fun part rather than the actual products. The most popular video to date, Rushmore, actually shows one of Google's most interesting technologies, Goggles, failing by recognizing the plaster recreation of Mount Rushmore as the real thing.

The second most popular video, does a better job. Three girls manage to order Indian food, in Hindi using Google Translate's audio feature.

You can check out the tens of slams submitted so far on the dedicated site and vote for your favorite. And if you're feeling creative, you can submit your own as well.
