A Californian skydiving pro has experienced what he believes could have been his last jump. The stunt, which was caught on video, was about number 7,000 for Craig Stapleton from Acampo.

As he descended from 8,000 feet (2,438 m), joined by jumping partner Katie Nelson, his parachute deployed too fast and he started spinning in mid-air. He tried using his backup chute, but it became tangled as he was clinging from both of them.

By the time he hit the ground, he was going at 30 mph (48 kph), and he survived by landing in a vineyard. Even more miraculously, he incurred no serious injuries.

“God watches out for idiots and puppy dogs. That has to be why he let me live and walk away,” he tells KDVR.
