Windows 8.1 adopters have found an issue in the SkyDrive app

Users keep finding issues in Windows 8.1, even though one month has passed since the official launch of the operating system.

This time, consumers who turned to Microsoft’s Community forums are reporting an issue with the SkyDrive app, as the app does not display the sync status on a number of computers updated to Windows 8.1.

The problems first appeared on mid-October, soon after Redmond officially debuted the new Windows 8.1 and they seem to persist today, even though several company engineers have tried to work with users on finding a workaround.

“Since my update yesterday to Windows 8.1 I can't see how much data has been synced (downloaded) from my SkyDrive. I have 48 GB in the SkyDrive so it will take a while to download that. From where do I know when it's finished?” one affected user asked on the forums.

The same problem has been confirmed by many other Windows 8.1 adopters and while Microsoft hasn’t said it clearly, the company is now looking into reports to find the cause of the issue.

Microsoft’s support engineers have asked users to provide them with logs that could help them find the source of the problem and then start working on a fix.

Consumers are obviously frustrated with Microsoft’s slow reaction to addressing the glitch and are now calling for the company to start looking into the matter as soon as possible.

“This is not a very satisfying answer. I have the 200 GB subscription with SkyDrive, and I have more than 10,000 files. I really want to be able to see the sync status in one place -- it's just not practical for me to search through a large directory hierarchy, hunting for sync status overlays,” another affected user replied to a Microsoft support engineer.
