Today, Microsoft has officially announced the availability of the OneDrive for Android application, which is the rebranded and redesigned SkyDrive client for the platform.

The mobile client was launched alongside the new OneDrive service and packs a series of new features inside, such as support for working with Office Mobile for Android and OneNote, including editing Office documents.

It also comes with support for automatic camera uploads, as well as with larger thumbnails and nicer photo views, and with a number of bug fixes and improvements.

As The Verge notes, users will also be provided with the possibility to save videos to OneDrive, in addition to taking advantage of a slightly redesigned UI in the mobile client.

The new application should already be available for download through the Google Play Store in most markets, though it might not appear as available to all users right away.
