SkyDrive, the cloud service that enables storing of documents, photos, or videos, is now available on iPhone and Windows Phone devices as well, so that users all around the world could enjoy fast access to it at all times.

The availability of SkyDrive on these mobile platforms follows shortly after Microsoft performed a revamp of the SkyDrive.com website in an attempt to offer improved management capabilities, as well as better sharing features.

Users interested in doing more with SkyDrive their devices can now download and install the said iPhone and Windows Phone flavors of the app to take along with them while on the go, Mike Torres, group program manager, SkyDrive Devices and Roaming, explains in a recent blog post.

The new software is available for iPhone users in 32 languages worldwide, enabling them to create folders, delete files, and share links via the Mail app. Overall, the SkyDrive application has been tailored to fit the needs of iPhone users, Microsoft notes.

As for Windows Phone, the app now features deeper integration with the latest flavor of the mobile platform, namely 7.5 Mango.

Users will be able to easily access SkyDrive through the Pictures and Office hubs, will benefit from various sharing capabilities, and more, though there still are a series of aspects to be addressed.

“For instance, you can share photos stored on SkyDrive by email, text, or IM, use Office apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with SkyDrive files, and even keep your phone’s camera roll up-to-date on SkyDrive automatically,” Mike Torres notes.

“This integration isn’t surface-level—SkyDrive is integrated into the apps you use, along with core phone functions. This is a great example of using SkyDrive as an App cloud for Office and Pictures, where the cloud is an underlying feature of the app itself.”

The SkyDrive app on Windows Phone 7.5 is available in all areas where devices have been already put on shelves.

It brings easy browsing of documents, photos and any other files, better sharing capabilities when it comes to SkyDrive folders and files, management capabilities that resemble those available via the website.

The video embedded below will offer additional info on what the SkyDrive application for Windows Phone is all about. You will be able to find the software available for download via the Windows Phone Marketplace. The iPhone app was released in the Apple App Store.
