BSkyB announced that it has won the rights to show
Barclays Premiership football highlights on mobile phones.

The three-year package will allow Sky to show highlights of 380 Premiership games from the 2007/2008 season. Sky Media beat off a combined bid from five of the UK's biggest mobile phone companies like T-Mobile, Orange, 3, Vodafone and O2.

Sky's bid was made in partnership with News Group Newspapers, publisher of The Sun and News of the World, which will jointly market and promote the new services.

"Sky has now secured TV, online and mobile rights to the Premiership and can promise the widest range of services and the most flexible ways of viewing across multiple platforms," said Stephen Nuttall, director of business development at BSkyB.

The service also includes the chance for users to see clips of goals and key moments while certain games are in progress.
