The (in)famous Sky Go application for Android devices has just received a new update that promises support for Ice Cream Sandwich. Additional devices that support Sky Go have been included as well.

Created by BSkyB, the application was launched back in February and already has between 100,000 and 500,000 downloads in the Google Play store, formerly known as Android Market.

Even though the app seems to be popular among Android users, its average rating is simply awful due to limited support. The second update added more devices to the list of support Android phones, but Ice Cream Sandwich was a no go until recently.

Many Android Gingerbread users noticed that Sky Go no longer works after upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich.

However, developers announced earlier this month that a new update will be delivered, which will make Sky Go fully compatible with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich devices.

Sky Go for Android is currently available across eleven handsets and allows customers to watch channels and a slew of on-demand shows and movies in line with their subscription, via either a 3G or a WiFi connection. Keep in mind that the service is only available in the UK and Ireland.

The following devices are fully supported by Sky Go so far: HTC Desire, HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Incredible S, HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XE, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Nexus.

Moreover, starting today, Sky Go is available on HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XE, Samsung Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Nexus powered by Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

The latest version of Sky Go is now available as a free download via Google Play store and it should be fully compatible with all devices mentioned earlier. Check it out here.
