Skolelinux, a Linux distribution based on Debian, providing an out-of-the box environment of a completely configured school network, is now at version 6.0.4 RC2.

Developers of Skolelinux have advised users of 6.0.4 RC1 to upgrade using the apt-get upgrade command, via a terminal.

Highlights of Skolelinux 6.0.4 RC2:

· Frenchs language support (only works for CD installs, but will be fixed for DVDs in the next version); · freerdp-x11 is now installed by default as RDP and VNC client, taking the place of rdesktop; · The backup system was made more robust when handling LDAP database dump and restart; · Handing of removable media on thin clients was improved; · The Main Server + Roaming Workstation profile selection give an error as this is an invalid combination; · Danish translation was implemented in the The Debian Edu Squeeze Manual.

There is also a feature that is now working properly and it will be fixed in the coming version. The RDP server set up on thin-client-servers gives distorted KDE desktop at least when logging in using rdesktop and users must use tigervnc server as a replacement.
