Skolelinux, a Linux distribution based on Debian, providing an out-of-the box environment of a completely configured school network, is now at version 6.0.4 Beta 3.

Petter Reinholdtsen, one of the developers of Debian Edu aka Skolelinux, has recommended that users reinstall the operating system in order to get all the fixes and improvements that come in the new version:

· The default gateway has changed from 10.0.0.1/8 to 10.0.2.1/8; · subnet-change tool has been provided so that users can change the default backbone  network after installation; · Automatic extending of full filesystems on the main server has been enabled; · A new script pxe-addfirmware to insert hardware firmware in PX images to support more hardware models was added; · A KDE menu entry is provided for changing the password in GOsa; · First user on standalone installs receives sudo access.

A complete changelog is available in the official announcement.
