A skier has been killed in the Revelstoke Mountain Resort in the British Columbia region of Canada. Reports say that the yet unidentified skier has been killed during an avalanche.

According to CBC Canada, the incident occurred on Friday, February 22, during the afternoon, when five friends were skiing in an off-limits area outside the resort.

The group was caught up in an avalanche in the Greely Lake region, with three people remaining buried in the slide.

According to RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk, two of them were rescued by other members of the group, while the other man died. The Revelstoke RCMP and the Revelstoke Search and Rescue team are now working together to recover the third skier's remains.

Meanwhile, the Canadian Avalanche Centre has issued a “high” avalanche risk alert for the majority of alpine and treeline mountain areas in British Columbia.
