What with work and good old antisocial behavior, plenty of people find themselves sitting alone at home on the weekends. Leave it to Skellie the skeleton to prove that one doesn't even have to have a beating heart or even a body to enjoy a pretty busy life.

This skeleton, featured in the photos in the gallery below, takes great pleasure in going to brunches with friends, taking selfies with and without makeup, watching Netflix, sipping coffee at Starbucks and relaxing in a tub full of foam and hot water at the end of a tiring day.

In true 21st century fashion, Skellie even makes sure that everybody knows exactly what she is up to each and every moment of the day. No, really, she has an Instagram account dubbed @omgliterallydead and uses it as often as she gets the chance to show people just how much fun she is having being dead.

Don't fret, Skellie is not a real skeleton

It's nearly impossible to tell just by looking at photos of her hanging out at Starbucks, but Skellie isn't really a moving and talking skeleton. If she were, chances are that she would not be as popular as she is. In fact, it's safe to assume that people would run for the hills whenever laying their eyes on her.

In fact, she isn't even a real skeleton, to begin with. On the contrary, she is made of plastic. Hence the fact that she must always make sure that her bath or her coffee are not too hot and, therefore, a threat to her fragile figure before diving in.

Despite being, well, a fake, Skellie the skeleton has a whole lot of friends and fans. Mind you, some of her groupies are so devoted to her that they are even willing to spend their hard-earned money on mugs, T-shirts and even iPhone cases that have photos of her imprinted on them.

It all started as a joke, Skellie's creator says

In case anyone was wondering, Skellie was born in the city of Toronto in Ontario, Canada, back in last year's October, when the plastic skeleton was brought to the office of a local marketing company and somebody had the brilliant idea to tape a cup of coffee to its hand.

Company manager Dana Herlihy took a photo of the skeleton holding the coffee cup and even went as far as to post it on Instagram. Weeks later, Skellie the skeleton had her own Instagram account and a whole lot of photos to prove what a lively skeleton she was.

“My coworkers took to it; someone taped a Starbucks cup to the skeleton’s hand and I took a photo for my personal Instagram. I continued taking photos of the skeleton and then, on a whim, thought it would be funny for the office skeleton to have its own account.”

“I realized there was some interesting potential for contemporary satire, so I ran with it, and it has kind of snowballed since,” company manager Dana Herlihy explained how Skellie was created in a recent interview with the press.

Presently, Skellie the skeleton has about 186,000 followers on Instagram. Otherwise put, this sack of plastic bones is quite a celebrity, be it only among users of this social networking site.
