Between December 4, 2006 and January 3, 2007, Microsoft has made available for download a total of six hotfixes addressing a set of as many issues in Windows Vista. If you are a Windows Vista user that has been experiencing problems with the operating system you might want to take a look at these hotfixes as they might provide a solution. According to data released by Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit edition, Home Basic 64-bit edition, Home Premium 64-bit edition , Ultimate 64-bit edition, Business, Business 64-bit EN, Enterprise, Home Basic, Home Premium, Vista Starter and Ultimate are all affected by the problems associated with the hotfixes.

Microsoft informed that all the editions of Windows Vista have experienced issues on resuming from Sleep or Hibernation modes. The issues are related to the lack of responsiveness and hang time of various devices, and even the inaccessibility of devices such as the fingerprint reader, the impossibility to connect devices via the Safely Remove Hardware option. When resuming from sleep or hibernate, some copies of Vista will even present a few error messages.

Microsoft provided a separate hotfix designed to resolve problems with the connecting and reconnecting of an optical device in Vista through Safely Remove Hardware.

The Redmond Company also addressed a problem with IBM and Lenovo machines running Windows Vista, on which the operating system's start time may be 10 or 20 seconds longer than on other computers, due to the fact that the respective systems do not use a hot swappable Ultrabay drive bay.

According to the enable/disable status of the resource rebalancing option in the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface in BIOS, connecting a PCI ExpressCard device to a portable Windows Vista-based computer will cause the device to not function properly.

The remaining three hotfixes will deliver solutions for the functionality of ink programs on a digitizer, for Vista copies that have experienced problems with Bluetooth devices and for the availability of Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) optical drives, such as a CD or a DVD drive after Vista reboot.
