Six credit card skimming devices have been discovered at a Florida store of the American upscale fashion retailer Nordstrom.

According to Brian Krebs, the police department in Aventura, Florida, issued an alert on October 5 after three men were filmed while installing the devices.

First, the scammers went in to check out the place. Two of them distracted staff, while the third took pictures of the cash register and its rear access panel.

Later, three different men returned to the store and installed a skimmer (see picture). Once enough credit card data was collected, the crooks returned to retrieve the devices.

The skimmer was designed to match the connections on the back of the register. Its color also matched so it would have been impossible to spot unless there was a problem with the register, police noted.

Nordstrom representatives have told Krebs that the incident appears to be limited to this single store in Florida. It’s uncertain if any of the individuals caught on camera have been arrested.

The company’s investigation is still ongoing.
