Mobile phone maker Motorola has expanded its WX lineup with six new handsets aimed at the entry level of the market. The newly unveiled devices include the stylish MOTO WX161 and MOTO WX181, which sport candybar form factors, FM radio and integrated light torch, as well as the MOTO WX260 and MOTO WX265, both with Bluetooth connectivity, MP3 player and support for up to 2GB of additional storage. The MOTO WX290 and MOTO WX295 are the last two new additions to the lineup, each with a digital camera.

“This new range builds on the success of the original WX Series which debuted in 2009. The aim was to meet the changing needs of our consumers and make mobile communication available to the widest possible audience. These six new mobiles deliver just that by offering affordable solutions for talking, texting, taking photos and listening to tunes,” said Andrew Morley, vice president of Marketing, EMARA, Motorola Mobile Devices.

The new MOTO WX181 brings a 1.5-inch color display to the market, as well as FM radio with integrated RDS2, capable of displaying songs, artists and genres users are listening to. The mobile phone also includes a built-in LED torch, so that one can find the way in dark environments. Moreover, it enables up to five people to join conference calls while on the go.

MOTO WX161 includes FM radio and RDS, a 1.3-inch display, long-life battery and built-in LED torch. The handset can keep users connected with their calls and SMS, while the embedded FM radio delivers info on song and station. MOTO WX260 comes with FM radio and MP3 player, and can provide up to 11 hours of music playback. MOTO WX265 sports all the features of MOTO WX260, but in a clamshell form factor. Both devices include Bluetooth 2.0 and microSD card slot with support for cards of up to 2GB.

The new MOTO WX290 packs a 1.8-inch color screen, digital camera, LED torch light, MMS support, WAP 2.0 browser, stereo FM radio and Bluetooth 2.0, all in a handset that sports a candybar form factor. According to Motorola, these features are available in MOTO WX295 too, only that in a flip design. No details on the devices' availability were unveiled.
