The technique is called "Draft-Dodging"

Not everyone likes military service, especially if it's compulsory. Sure, some people will join the army willingly, but others will firmly reject it, because they despise violence, or a drill sergeant always yelling at them or for whatever other reason you may think of. Draft-dodging is as old as the army. Thing is that some people seem to be specialized in this, for example, the south Koreans even have websites that suggest ways of dodging the compulsory military service, as the AFP informs.

The country has been known as a "rogue" state that is amassing military power, trying to face its more powerful northern kin. Military service in the country is a must and men are trying to avoid it. As you might have imagined, the government doesn't like that so they're trying to take down more than 100 websites that are offering info about how to dodge drafting. In any case, I think that a Chinese-like view of the problem would have been more efficient. And by this, I'm referring to the Great Firewall of China thing - if they just blacklisted the sites, there would be no need to take them down.

As AFP informs, ministry spokesman Kim Hyung-Gi stated: "We have sent official letters to major Internet portals such as Daum and Naver to ask for the closure of those illicit websites".

One way for healthy men to avoid drafting is by bribing the right persons, and by this, I don't even mean anyone in their military force. They have a certain law saying that if one works for about 3 years in a certain company (that the South Korean government deems important for the economic growth) then you don't need to spend the 2 years of army service. However, you can imagine that people buy their way into these firms. This is pretty hard to fight, as you can imagine, but the South Korean government is at least trying to get rid of the sites that make draft-dodging easier.
