We’re pretty sure it’s not April 1st, going by the calendars (both paper and electronic) laying around our office here at Softpedia, but we can’t not feel like we’re getting our leg pulled by a report titled “Apple iPhone 5 Specification and Release Date” which emerged just minutes ago.

According to a report published by capitaltalk.org and picked up by Google news, “Apple iPhone 5 will be released at the end of June 2011 as usual in WWDC 2011 in San Francisco.”

Mentioning no sources whatsoever, the site adds: “Verizon Wireless is currently testing a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 and 5 and Verizon confirms they are making network changes to bring the iPhone to their network.”

It continues, dishing out the alleged new features coming in the new iPhone model: “The new iPhone 5 is going to be loaded with awesome new features like video chat on 3g and 4g (no longer restricted to WiFi only), face recognition and extreme downloading."

The report also includes a list of “possible features” (reproduced below) adding that “iPhone 5 looks promising in terms of being sleek, packed with new hardware and finally less restrictions. Very exciting.”

Thinner! With shiny glass back piece – 9.3 mm thick.

Face recognition

Face Time (Video Chat) access on 3G AND 4G

Custom SMS tones

Custom E-mail alerts with ability to assign different tones to each email address

A new, sleeker body design.

OLED screen.

Scratch proof and shatter proof screen

Wireless sync with iTunes

32G (basic) and 64G of memory. You’re sure to never run out.

Extended battery life = 14 hours talk time on 3G and 7 hours on 4G. Standby 600 hours.

Needless to point out, for the time being there is little to no information available regarding Apple’s plans with the upcoming, next-generation of iPhones, therefore the accuracy of said report is questionable, to say the least.
