This December, the end of the second trilogy from the “Lord of the Rings” saga will bring an inevitable conclusion to the Peter Jackson films based on the Tolkien books. The final trailer for the “Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies” has been released, and it brings epic moments as well as some surprises.

Martin Freeman plays Bilbo Baggins, who manages to wake up Smaug the Dragon voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch. The movie shows Smaug raining death upon the inhabitants of Lake-town but also the evil wizard Sauron, who returns to Middle-Earth, sending armies of Orcs and Wargs to attack the Lonely Mountain.

This creates the premises for the movie's title “Battle of the Five Armies,” and director Peter Jackson has promised that it's going to be nothing short of breath-taking, since it is rumored to be as long as 45 minutes in the movie's run time, not to mention bigger than everything we've seen before in cinemas.

It's both a happy and sad moment, because it's going to be the last time you will be able to see Middle-Earth depicted on film. The movie is set to open in theaters this December 17. In other roles you will see Sir Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly and Cate Blanchett.
