Although Siri won’t be multilingual when it hits the Chinese market next week, the digital assistant is on pace to learn Mandarin, an Apple spokesperson has confirmed.

Apple this week confirmed a multi-country roll-out for its latest iPhone, one of the key territories being China, on January 13th, Friday, Next week.

The popularity of the iPhone 4S is mostly due to Siri, the personal assistant that gets stuff done for you by listening to your voice.

According to the LA Times, an Apple spokesman says the company plans to add official Chinese language support sometime in 2012. Other languages will be supported as well. For now, Siri only understands English with various accents.
