The birthday celebration performance of the Billy Elliot musical was an occasion for all the willing and the unwilling spectators to see Elton John in a tutu on the stage.
The artist, who created the music for Billy Elliot - the musical, came to the show accompanied by his partner David Furnish. Initially, the couple didn't make a flashy entrance as Elton John was dressed to the occasion.
As they attended the special anniversary show at the Victoria Palace Theater nobody expected he will end up in a tutu on the stage.
The show marked an anniversary so special things needed to be done: the three original boys, who won a Laurence Olivier Award for their part in the show, resumed their roles. Two of them had to leave the show as their voices were changing and the musical would have sounded just bad if they were to sing
Sir Elton got on stage with a white tutu over his suit and told the shocked, amused or just irritated audience: "I didn't know that I was going to wear one. They just told me when I got here. There was no fitting they just had it ready."
He also made a joke: "I couldn't wear pink."
